FIREFIGHTERS OF THE YEAR
Captain Mike Padgett & Lieutenant Kent Padgett
This year the award was shared by the Padgett brothers.
Congratulations to Mike and Kent for their service to the community.
Lt Karl Newhart (left) received the "Best Hose Lay" Award. Karl was able to lay 600' of 5" hose perfectly. The unfortunate part was the truck hadn't made the scene yet, the hose didn't need to be laid and Karl didn't even know it happened, since it fell of the back of the truck.
Chief Jerrad Blacker received the prestigious "Unhook the Line" Award. This award goes to the person who doesn't unhook the air hose from the truck before leaving the station. Jerrad came to the station for a run and got into the Ladder, which was already running. He assumed the line had been unhooked, but it had not, thus ripping the air line and reel from the ceiling.
